The Whanganui Salon 2019 – Humanity and Earth
It is a great pleasure to present the top images from the Whanganui Salon - for the first time since 1992. Congratulations to the winners, runners up and those awarded judge’s commendations, with particular congratulations to the overall winner Jay Drew for her evocative image "The Cooling Tower”. With over 400 entries it was a very competitive Salon, so commiserations to those entrants who did not receive awards and thank you for your entries. A big thank you also to our three judges - Drew Hopper (Australia), Petra Leary (Auckland) and Simon Woolf (Wellington) - for doing such a great job for us and rising to the challenge of selecting images that are not only strong photographically, but also capture the Salon theme. The relationship between Humanity and Earth is the defining issue of our times, as photographers we can play a small, but important role in shining a light on it. Keep making photos that illustrate the good and the bad of our impact on earth and we may see you again in 2021 |
